Are you game to play ?

I am away the next 15 days… So, to make you wait, what about a little game?

To participate, it is easy, just let a comment on my blog. You can talk about anything you want: for example, share a  knitting or sewing tips, tell me a bit more about you (and your blog, if you have one), propose a tutorial, a recipe, or even a funny story…

I will simply draw a name when I am back (around the 15th of June)!

What could you win??

 A flower-necklace

And a “happy sewing” kit including a set of fabrics, ribbons …

 …  buttons and accessories …

What can you do with fabric scraps?

A lot, actually…

Every dressmaker has at least a full bag of fabric scraps waiting no one know what! Adele had a very clever idea, and suggested to create crafts with fabric scraps. And I was on board for the challenge… With a lot, lot of inspiration!

With an entire bag full of scraps, I had plenty of fabrics to work with.

“The Scrap-Necklace”

  • Fabric scraps, at least 5*5 cm pieces
  • ribbon scraps
  • wool scraps

Draw petal shapes on the fabric with a fabric pencil (7 long petals, and 5 small ones). Using the cord stitch of your sewing machine (or the 3 lines stitch), sew along the pencil line. Shear along the stitch line.

Create a flower shape with the longest petals and sew them together. Do the same with the smallest petals, and sew all the petals together. On the back of the flower, sew the ribbons and wool scratches.

The scrap-headband

  • Fabric Scraps (5*5 cm)

1/ For the headband : Stitch the fabric scraps to form the headband (Lengh around 1.5 m). The secret is to put some stretch fabric scraps! And I used a velcro round to attach the heaband.

2/ Sew a flower (Same as above). Stitch or glu on the headband.

If the headband does not suit you , you can do a hairclip:

The Scrap-hairclip

  • Cardboard or plastic board (10*10 cm)
  • Fabric’s glue
  • Very easy to do…

Draw a flower (or any other shape on the cardboard). Glu the fabric on the wrong side of the cardboard. Shear following the flower shape. Do 2 little holes with a needle. Insert the hair clip.

    I love scraps!!!

First, you can play for the 1st year anniversary of  Olele’s blog and discover her necklaces and other handmade fabric crafts.

Then, you can have a look here. It is an australian based compagny who makes gorgeous hand print fabrics.  I went crazy for this one especially:

And to conclude, click here and have a laugh.  It is the blog of a french comic illustrator and it has been translated into English.

It is really good fun, and a way to get a taste of French humour (What?? Sorry, I have to disagree, French CAN be funny sometime… !!!)
